27th July 2026 Guildford River Walk
Walk led by Rob Durham The main body of the attendees met in the large Crown Court car park behind Wetherspoons in Godalming but we met M.E., J.E. and I.P. on route. We crossed the road from the entrance to the car park and walked along the boardwalk in to Bury Fields by the river and out of the park at Bridge Road which we crossed. We then followed the towpath all the way from Godalming United Church to the footbridge at St Catherine’s. We crossed this bridge and Shalford water meadow in to Guildford, across the lock and footbridge by the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre to The Britannia pub. where most of us stopped for a meal. The sun shone continuously during the ramble but there was some shade along the towpath. Despite how dry it had been there was a lot of greenery and colour from purple loosestrife and Himalayan balsam on the riverbank. All this made it quite a pleasant walk.
