May 12th Ripley
Carol and I completed the pre-walk yesterday and we are pleased to say that it was a delightful meander through the area of Ripley, Send Marsh, and the river Wey.
It is a Fancy free walk and takes in views of Newark Priory and Papercourt Lake.
My Ordnance Survey App on my phone showed that we walked uphill for a total distance of 11 feet !!
so basically it is a flat walk without any Stiles. The total distance was around 5.5 miles and there was a delightful little garden with tables for our morning coffee.
Parking at the beginning is good but I would encourage car sharing if possible.
For those interested in birds my Phone app also told me that we were listening to Robins-Blackbirds-chiffchaffs-wrens-Blackcaps-and a great Tit. !!!
We will eat at the Jovial Sailor Public House which is on the route home before we leave the Ripley area.
The walk starts at Ripley Green postcode GU23 6AN
this is on the left in the middle of Ripley Village as one approaches from the Guildford direction, once you have turned left there is parking immediately on the right and more parking further down the track that leads straight ahead . we hope to start the walk at 10 am
The Jovial sailor has a good menu
