5 walkers met in Tilford on a very rainy day for a lovely walk along the River Wey to
Frensham Little Pond, returning via Pierrepont Farm and Farnham Heath.
The outward route followed the south branch of the Wey through woodland with occasional views along the river and passing fields of sheep and pigs. We made a short diversion to the north end of Frensham Little Pond and stopped for coffee during an interlude in the rain at some strategically placed benches with a fine view over the pond. Our return path took us across the river and past a fine herd of Jersey cows to Pierrepont Farm, where there is a cheese shop and the Farnham Brewery and a variety of other small businesses, as well as some handy toilets.
We continued past Tankersford Common, crossing the Reeds Road before following the edge of Farnham Heath nature reserve to Sheephatch
Lane. After crossing the north branch of the Wey at Tilford Mill Bridge, we followed a bridleway on the right, leading us back to Tilford and the welcome Barley Mow, where we were joined for lunch by 5 others who had decided not to get wet.
