‘A Dead Interesting Walk’

This was one of our more unconventional walking trips but very enjoyable nonetheless. We were 'blessed' with a beautiful sunny morning with a distinct chill in the shade.

There are new plots to see that you missed before on every visit. The atmosphere was very peaceful and it gave everyone a chance to chat and wander to their hearts content.

We spent about an hour and a half in the South Cemetery before driving to visit the Military Cemetery. The contrast in the layout and maintenance of the cemeteries was striking!.

We were able to chat to some of the Commonwealth Graves staff who were busy tending the plots. We then were given a briefing on the American Military Cemetery history from a young lady. We then spent a bit of time soaking up the atmosphere and contemplating the sacrifices these young people had made.

11 walked and 5 of us went to The Nags Head for a splendid lunch!.
