May 12th Ripley
C arol and I completed the pre-walk yesterday and we are pleased to say that it was a delightful meander through the area of Ripley, Send Marsh, and the river Wey. It is a Fancy free walk and takes in views of Newark Priory and Papercourt Lake. My Ordnance Survey App on my phone showed that we walked uphill for a total distance of 11 feet !! so basically it is a flat walk without any Stiles. The total distance was around 5.5 miles and there was a delightful little garden with tables for our morning coffee. Parking at the beginning is good but I would encourage car sharing if possible. For those interested in birds my Phone app also told me that we were listening to Robins-Blackbirds-chiffchaffs- wrens-Blackcaps-and a great Tit. !!! We will eat at the Jovial Sailor Public House which is on the route home before we leave the Ripley area.
